The assembly workstation leader Desoutter is adding a new generation of external displays to its Connect screwing data communications centre.
The "Sight" screen visualises assembly processes and screwing results directly at the workplace. It also allows remote access to the Connect menu structure. During its development, particular attention was paid to a quick and smooth installation and set-up of the devices.</strong
Wherever the Connect control centre from Desoutter is installed far away from the assembly workstations, the external "Sight" display now provides the necessary perspective. “Our new range of screens provides the worker with detailed information and in real time regarding screwing results and assembly progress”, explains Michael Loosen, Product Manager at Desoutter in Maintal. “In addition, authorised employees can access the Connect menu structure via the user-friendly touch screen”. It is possible to individually define the information to be shown on the display. Connect was introduced by Desoutter last year. This "Industrial Smart Hub" functions as a communications centre for fast and secure data transmission between WLAN screwdriving tools and the user’s primary systems.
The easy-to-install displays are available in 15 ”and 7” versions to suit the respective installation application and individual needs. A module is also available that can also be used to connect other external user screens to the Industrial Smart Hub Connect. The Sight displays are only compatible with Desoutter’s Connect platform. The screens are WLAN-compatible, have a LAN interface and - depending on the model - are equipped with between two and five USB ports.
Desoutter's CVI-KEY software ensures reliable documentation and transmission of all screwing data to and from the screen: “CVI KEY allows or blocks access to the parameters on the Sight display”, explains Michael Loosen. “Manipulations in production can be prevented safely”.
Michael Loosen is promising that the displays will soon have worker guidance and will be able to show the installer the screwing points on component images. In addition, the "tool-in-position" status then supports the use of position monitoring. "In future, the display will be able to ensure that the assembly processes stored in Connect are followed exactly”, explains Loosen.
